Urban Art, Camberwell
Magic is often subtle or evasive. You’ve got to keep your eyes open to spot it.
I spied this mural at the weekend through a gap in some hoardings in Camberwell.
While a lot of Urban Art is crude and bombastic, from time to time you will see something like this that is delicate and strange.
The Fox’s Revenge?
There is something mysterious about Street Art. It appears in the dark of the night, often in unexpected places. It is usually anonymous, and generally ephemeral, disappearing as fast as it has appeared. There’s no signature, no labels, no explanation.
I don’t know who created this work. It won’t be around for long, as the site is already undergoing development for new housing. Thousands of people pass it every day, but I wonder how many will notice it?

I used to live in Camberwell – there’s some amazing urban art round there and a lot of great projects going on. Have you seen the new art space being created by one of the urban artists in the area? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/344721669/the-art-of-negative-space
I did go on a photography walk around Brick Lane, some brilliant examples there too 🙂 It was never one of my favourite types of art, but when you start to look into it, the back stories are fascinating.

I didn’t know about that project – thanks for the link. Like all artforms, there is good urban art and bad urban art, but this one really caught my imagination. They have started building on the site in the last few weeks, so I suspect it might be gone by now.
